The Carol Lee Organics Difference:
Synthetics and chemical ingredients are not recognized or therefore accepted by the skin. They contain damaging ingredients such as alcohol, dyes, parabens and harsh preservatives that dry and irritate the skin.
Synthetic and petroleum based ingredients clog the pores and leech into the bloodstream causing toxic build-up in the kidneys and other organs. The more chemicals and industrial by-products we can avoid putting in our system, the better we look and feel.
The human body and all its parts and organs, including the skin which is the largest organ, are subject to deterioration (aging), disease and illness when they are overwhelmed by oxidizing elements that break-down and destroy the body’s cells and molecular structure.
Oxidizing elements are also known as “free-radicals” and include among other pollutants, chemicals, petroleum based products and by-products, drugs, radiation, smoke, alcohol, synthetic preservatives, artificial colors.
Free radicals damage cells and may play a role in heart disease, cancer and other deadly diseases.
Antioxidants are substances that help protect our cells against the effects of free radicals.
Some antioxidants include:
Antioxidants are also found in many foods, including fruits and vegetables, nuts, grains, and some meats, poultry and fish.
Organic: Organic foods are produced without the use of synthetic pesticides, hormones, and fertilizers, thus producing a pure and natural food product.
Natural: Natural food products typically refer to foods made without artificial or synthetic additives, colors, preservatives or flavors. However, be aware that “natural” may include any ingredient found in nature, which may contain toxic and deadly heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and others, as well as mineral oils or petroleum based products. Many natural ingredients can be as toxic as synthetics, so know what you are buying and consuming.
Micronutrients: Are nutrients needed throughout life in small quantities. They are dietary minerals needed by the human body in very small quantities (generally less than 100 micrograms/day) as opposed to macrominerals which are required in larger quantities. The Microminerals or trace elements include at least iron, cobalt, chromium, copper, iodine, manganese, selinium, zinc and molybdenum. Micronutrients also include small traces of vitamins.
Cofactors: A cofactor is a non-protein chemical compound that is bound (either tightly or loosely) to a protein and is required for the protein’s biological activity. These proteins are commonly enzymes and cofactors can be considered “helper molecules/ions” that assist in biochemical transformations and cellular activity.
When I was in my late 20’s as a cosmetologist, I realized I had dry sensitive skin, and started searching for moisturizing products. But everything I tried irritated my skin, caused blemishes, and did little to relieve the dryness.
Those were the days before we knew anything about isolated chemicals such as fragrances, waxes, petroleum products, mineral oils, parabens, preservatives, colorings, etc. that were added to the only skin care products available at the time.
I quickly discovered that chemical based topical products were not the way to go for me. And talking with clients I realized they too had similar problems and irritations from common moisturizers, cosmetics, and skin care products.
My search began for a natural product that would moisturize without irritation. In the 1950’s no such options existed. So I began experimenting with my own natural formula. After years of researching, testing, and experimenting with numerous formulations, I developed what I now call “Oils of Youth.”
When I started working with film and television celebrities and models, I noticed the impact that frequent use of make-up, chemicals, harsh lighting and sun exposure had on their skin.
My celebrity clients absolutely had to look their best at all times, regardless of their hectic schedules, travel and lifestyles. Adding products with chemicals, alcohol, fillers, synthetic preservatives and toxins to their already overstressed skin was not the answer.
They needed naturally radiant and healthy looking complexions that could be preserved by a natural product.
After years of making my proprietary serum available only in small quantities to clients and friends, it became clear that we needed to make it in larger quantities and offer it to the public.
I called it “Oils of Youth” because of the youthful appearance it has given my complexion, and that of my friends, family and clients, and because of the many benefits offered by its delicate balance of organic oils, vitamins and naturally occurring micro nutrients.
With the help of a healthy diet and twice daily use of Oils of Youth, people often assume I am 20 years younger! And my clients and daughters who use the product say the same thing. I have never had a face lift, botox or cosmetic surgery of any kind.
I also believe in eating pure and organic foods when possible. We all know there is no single solution, potion, cream or magic pill we can take that reverses the effects of aging and poor diet, but there are many things we can do today that collectively will help us look and feel younger, healthier, and more vibrant. Parabens: Parabens are the most widely used preservatives in cosmetic products. Chemically, parabens are esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid. The most common parabens used in cosmetic products are methylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben. Typically, more than one paraben is used in a product, and they are often used in combination with other types of preservatives to provide preservation against a broad range of microorganisms.
The Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) does not authorize the FDA to approve cosmetic ingredients, with the exception of color additives that are not coal-tar hair dyes. In general, cosmetic manufacturers may use any ingredient they choose, except for a few ingredients that are prohibited by regulation.
A study published in 2004 (Darbre, in the Journal of Applied Toxicology) detected parabens in breast tumors. FDA is aware that estrogenic activity in the body is associated with certain forms of breast cancer. Although parabens can act similarly to estrogen, they have been shown to have much less estrogenic activity than the body’s naturally occurring estrogen.
Paraffin: A waxy white or colorless solid hydrocarbon mixture obtained from certain petroleum crudes, used to make candles, wax paper, lubricants, and sealing materials. Also called paraffin wax. Often used in common lotions and moisturizers.
Fragrance: Synthetic fragrances may contain as few as forty, and as many as hundreds of individual synthetic chemicals. These ingredients can be neuro-toxic chemicals which can lead to central nervous disorders such as MS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and SIDS. Many are considered toxic waste by the FDA. Some common chemicals in fragrances include:
Benzyl acetate: A potential carcinogen linked to pancreatic cancer, and is easily absorbed through the skin.
Acetone: A depressant and highly toxic chemical found in nail polish remover and fragrances. Others include Ethanol, Benzyl alcohol, Ethyl acetate and Limonene, all toxins and known carcinogens.
Your skin (epidermis), is your largest organ. The epidermis contains millions of microscopic blood capillaries, or tiny blood vessels near the surface of the skin that absorb most everything applied to it, and carry every chemical, lotion or cream, with all their synthetic and petroleum ingredients directly into your bloodstream for distribution throughout your body.
Because the skin absorbs and distributes most everything applied to it, many drugs and medications are now applied directly to the skins surface, such as the patches for smokers, sea sickness medication, estrogen, birth control patches and even joint, muscle, arthritis and pain medications.
That’s why we never compromise or take short-cuts and use only the purest organic ingredients in every bottle of Oils of Youth, without the use of mineral oils, petroleum products, synthetics, chemicals, colors, dyes, perfumes, wax, detergents, parabens, alcohol, glycerin, stabilizers, water, fillers, emollients, or synthetic preservatives.
We only use pharmaceutical grade, cobalt blue glass bottles to maintain the purity and freshness of the product, and to eliminate degradation from light and contaminants.
We make it this way because we care. I also use it myself, and so do my children, friends, and clients and we don’t want toxins and synthetics in our system either.
Because Oils of Youth is so pure, complete and and PH optimized, it helps rebuild and cleanse your skin cells, pores and collagen cells. So the longer you use it, the healthier your skin becomes.
If it’s not safe enough to eat, would you put it on your skin?
At Carol Lee Organics, we believe that nothing should be applied to your skin that you would not feel safe or comfortable eating, because essentially your body is ingesting most everything you put on your epidermis. That’s why we are so particular about creating only the very cleanest and purist organic complexion and moisturizing product we could formulate. We care about you, your skin and your health, and we refuse to compromise either.
The optimal PH level and essential carrier oils found in Oils of Youth provide the maximum absorption of essential vitamins, minerals and micronutrients found only in natural botanical plant based nutrients that penetrate into the deepest layers of the epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous layers.
Because Oils of Youth is made from these pure natural and organic ingredients, you get all the cell rejuvenating health benefits of the exclusive complex group of micronutrients, cofactors and carrier oils only found in nature, and impossible to duplicate in laboratories.
Oils of Youth is a multitasking proprietary formula of premium organic food grade botanical oils, co-factors, vitamins, micro nutrients, trace minerals, herbal extracts and essential oils which synergistically achieve an outstanding anti-aging effect on the skin by helping feed, revitalize, detoxify, moisturize and regenerate the skin at every level.
Mineral oil is a plasticizing agent crude oil by-product which clogs pores and deteres normal cell regeneration. And prolonged contact causes acne, dermatitis (skin rashes and irritation), pre-mature aging of skin and impedes normal cell development. Mineral oils are also used in cleaning agents, industrial lubricants and pesticides.
Mineral oil is used in many cosmetic and skin care products because it is the least expensive lubricant. Mineral oil has given plant based oil a bad rap.
However, pure, clean organic plant based oils such as those used in Oils of Youth are healthy and beneficial as they nourish and moisturize the skin, and help with cell renewal and cellular nutrition.
